Auto Insurance Quote websites in demand after survey deems U.S. citizens less informed on auto insurance as first perceived

(Press Release) – March 16th, 2009 - The average US citizen will fail a simple 10 question quiz on insurance, according to a recent survey carried out by the NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners). In contrast, when asked, the average American considers him or herself very knowledgeable about auto insurance. This recent revelation is expected to cause a sharp rise in the use of auto insurance quote websites as car owners and drivers realize they need more help than originally thought.
The survey found that less than two-thirds of Americans (62 percent) are aware of the top three factors that impact the cost of auto insurance coverage (i.e., accident history, vehicle safety features, geography). And, only four in 10 respondents (41 percent) know that auto insurance does not automatically cover a rental car.
